day five: measurements

I actually cut fabric tonight. And then I looked at what I cut, and saw that it was too big. I’m mildly irked, but it’s better than cutting it too small.

Not just too big. Four inches too big.

I have no idea how I came up with the number that resulted in this overage. Not a clue.

Before I actually put scissors to fabric, I sat down with a sketch book and drew scale drawings of the pieces I needed. It helped to visualize the pieces. I didn’t get everything cut tonight, but I started late and didn’t want to work on it tired… and I am tired.

I’m still pretty pleased, because this shirt has been making me anxious. Now I find out that the “fixation seams” on the front and back are like little pintucks. This should be interesting…

I mean, what even is this? why is there a false seam?

I could get so crazy about these false seams, but I’m choosing not to. I think I’ve grown.

I’ll finish cutting tomorrow, and then I can start putting this bad boy together. For now, I’m about to fall over.

Night, y’all.
