day fifty: mixed bag
Busy night tonight… sorta. I ate dinner, I did some spinning, I went to a Zoom meeting and I did some sewing. All in all, a productive evening.
I tried out both of my new spindles, and I gotta say, it's money well spent. The mini spindle, the one that weighs about 7.5 grams, is tricky. The shaft is so short that it's a challenge to roll down my thigh, and it's so light that it's incredibly easy to roll it too aggressively and pop the single right off the hook.
That said, it also lets me spin more finely than ever before. It makes frog hair look like twine. I can't wait to ply this and see what it looks like.
i mean, it'll look a bit like this
The bigger of the two spindles I got spins like a dream. I can spin just as fine on this spindle as on the mini spindle, but it spins forever and lets me draft for a good while. I'm going to enjoy working with these.
As for the sewing, I cut the slit in the inside leg of my pants and started sewing in the gusset.
this was more nerve-wracking than i would have expected
I have no idea how I'm going to do the pointy end of the gusset, but I'll figure it out when I get there.
it's pinned in, i swear
So that's tonight's progress, what there is of it. Tomorrow I expect I'll finish sewing this leg in and get the other leg pinned. Honestly, these are pretty easy to assemble once you get the pattern made. I can see myself making more of these once I get the pattern properly refined.
Anyway, this is the last thing I do before bed, and I need the sleep. Night, y'all.
