day ten: no pins

It’s a brand-new day in the workroom…

Sorry, wrong show. But it is a new day, and I’d like to thank Excedrin Migraine for getting me here.

Next step is to sew the “fixation seams” on the back of the body panel. I’ve decide to try something different, now that I have a feel for it. I’m basting the outer layer to the lining, and then I’m going to try to take those tucks freehand, without all the pins. This time I’ve basted above the line I’m sewing so I can move the fabric freely to make the tucks. Hopefully, this will make the whole process more comfortable

look ma, no pins

(yes, my thumb is still stained)

later…

Well. That didn’t work as well as I could have wished. The lining layer puckered up between the tuck stitching and the basting stitches. I only sewed like ten inches, though, so whatever. Moving on…

can you see that? right by my thumb?

Yeah. Gonna eat something then pull these stitches and fix it.

lunch… good grief, that was just what I needed. I got one of those pre-packaged things of mac and cheese that you can heat up on the microwave (don’t @ me, I’m lazy and dishwashing-averse), and it was just the perfect combo of soft and warm and cheesy… yum.

Back to the sewing content you came here for…

that worked better

First upper arm complete. On to the next. This goes so much faster without the pins. I think that on the lower part I’ll be basting closer to the stitch line, though.

that wasn’t too bad

On to the lower legs. But first, a nap.

much later…

finished at last

On to the neckline tomorrow, maybe. Night, y’all.
