day seventeen: gussets

You should read that with a tone of disgust, because that’s what I’m feeling right now. Gussets are necessary, but a gigantic pain in the ass… and I think I just figured out how to sew these blighted things onto the sleeve. I’ve been wrestling with it for like two hours and I think I have it figured out. If not… I’m not trimming away seam allowances, so I can just take it all apart and try again.

I should maybe buy more thread.

Nope, bullshit, it’s all bullshit; I’m giving up on the instructions and doing it my way. I think the end result is the same anyway.

I ended up at my mom’s for the evening, where I keep my dye pots, and I checked the pH on my buckthorn, since I was going out to properly close the door on the shed anyway.

Turns out the pot has reduced a lot with evaporation, and the pH is pretty much neutral at 8. Tomorrow I’ll add some water and something alkaline to raise the pH, and check back on Wednesday.
