day seventy-four: more math
Next in my sewing room: cutting sleeves, gores, and gussets. The math comes in when I try to determine the sizes of all the pieces.
One thing people will tell you when you're making clothing that's meant to go over an underlayer is "Make sure you have enough room for layers!” For me, this results in making clothing that is way too big. I had to cut down a lined coat that was something like eight inches too big. So since I build my garments with ease anyway, I'm just making a tunic like I made my shirt.
Guess I should get to it. No one is going to do it for me. (I probably wouldn't let them, anyway.)
Stay tuned...
This is why I sit down to plan and work things out before I ever put shears to fabric.

So everything is cut out, and now assembly begins. If I count correctly, I have 16 or 20 seams to sew. Luckily, most of them are quite short, so it's not as daunting as it could be. I'm pretty confident that I can get it finished by Boxing Day.
I'll do a little research on what seams to use, to see if there's something different to use instead of my usual “sew down the seam allowances and whip stitch the seam together.” I'm off to see my mom right now, so I'm going to finish this post here. Night, y'all.
