day fifty-four: RPMs

Okay, so remember that spiffy medieval-style spindle shaft I got? The one that worked so nicely with the ceramic spindle whorl?

OH MY GOD IT WORKS EVEN BETTER WITH THE HEAVIER PEWTER WHORL

It spins like a damn demon. So fast and so smooth and so long… I'm in love. Completely smitten. I can't even describe the feeling of plying the singles I made last night.

being able to remove the whorl to wind off for plying is a game-changer

i don't think i've ever had so much fun plying

that's two-ply thread and a nickel.

I can see myself having a whole lot of fun making thread when I have nothing else to do. And when I need thread.

This may also be my incentive to learn to spin flax. I won a lot of flax fiber at Artifacts of a Life in February, so I have no excuse now.

Tonight is not the night, though. Next up, more sewing.

later... I have one more inside seam to sew. I'll try to really hammer on that tomorrow so I can work on the outside seams over the weekend. I just have to resist the siren song of my awesome medieval spindle.

In the meantime, my sleep hygiene has been crap lately, so I'm off to bed. Night, y'all.
