day forty-four: second verse…
Tonight involved more spinning, and I finished the wee bit of Manx roving I pulled out of my bag o’fluff. I switched spindles to a student spindle I pulled out my Craft Closet of Doom, which is much lighter than the one I was using yesterday, or at least it feels lighter, which is good enough for me.
1 did find a purveyor of sub-one ounce spindles on Etsy, and hopefully they will be on their way to me tomorrow or Monday. Truth be told, I will probably be done making thread by then, but you never know. Also, I want to spin some white fiber to see what I can get out of that walnut dye pot. I'll probably spin that up tomorrow, since I'm going to my mom’s tomorrow afternoon, where my dye pots live.
Because my mom is awesome. (Wait till I ask her if I can plant dye plants in her backyard. I have ideas for pretty and useful flowers.)
So yeah, I guess I'll go dive for another student spindle and find some BFL (hopefully I won't have to pull down the Big Box o’Fluff because that's hella awkward) to make some sacrificial thread. With any luck, it will end up perfect for my uses. I might drop some in the neutral buckthorn bath, too; it makes such a beautiful golden brown and that might be nice for my tunic.
I guess there aren't a lot of details tonight. Spinning is something I can do while movies run, but the pictures aren't that exciting. Apparently it's soothing to watch, though. Maybe I'll do a video someday.
I have to go wheel my trash bin out, then I'm going back to work. Night, y'all.
