day twelve: task avoidance
The order of operations in the instructions I have for making a Viborg shirt says that the last thing I do should be the neckline.
I’m not doing that.
Doing the neckline last means that I need to work with the sides closed. That’s a short ride to Crazytown. I was going to do that tonight, and then I took a look at the instructions again, and saw that after the front and back fixation seams are worked, I should sew the lining to the outer layer at the waist.
Okay! The neckline makes me nervous, so this will buy me time.
funky seaming technique, huh?
the stitches are hard to see, I know.
The hard part is keeping the tension a bit looser so the outer layer will lie flat.
later… so everything is sewn down. I’m really glad I didn’t cut my neckline, because I realized that I marked it on the wrong side.
See, I cut the front longer than the back because I have boobs, and I wanted the waistline to be level. And then I apparently wasn’t paying close enough attention, because I marked the neckline on the back. I’m glad I realized it before I put scissors to fabric.
my supervisor was in the office tonight
she could be more helpful, but nah
So yeah, in retrospect, I’m really glad I task avoided tonight. Tomorrow I’ll mark the correct side of the tunic body, pull the stitching on the wrong side, baste the right side, and have a go at finishing this neckline. This will give me a chance to really look a lot the diagrams, anyway.
Other than that… time for bed. Night, y’all.
