day twenty-two: back in the saddle
I just tried on the one sleeve I have sewn together.
IT FITS.
i get to sew another one.
And you know what’s the very best part?
I didn’t make any measurements as to where I started the taper, or the width I narrowed it to… I AM AWESOME.
Actually, it’s not that big of a deal. Once I get the gusset in, I’ll just trace the existing sleeve and use that for my pattern. Not the first time that’s happened. I’m sure that’s pretty much how things were done in the first place.
I have a Zoom meeting of the Kingdom A&S Orders tonight, so I’m going to get things situated so I am ready for that. This will be another of those running posts, I think. <insert goofy grin selfie here>
Okay, so maybe not running. I was too intent on getting this thing finished to come up with clever commentary.
But it’s DONE. It was easier than the last one, but I ended up pulling stitches and resewing at least once because I forgot to cut the taper from elbow to wrist before I started sewing the underarm seam. Easy enough to fix, but Faces Were Made.
the gusset was so much easier the second time around.
it’s too long, but that’s easily fixed
Honestly, compared to the first sleeve, this was almost a non-event. It’s done now, thank dog.
Next up, I have to prepare the shoulder edge of the sleeve for attachment to the body, which should be interesting.
For now, bed time. Night, y’all.
