day twenty: the game’s afoot
Here we go again. I’m pretty sure I have this bitch on lock now, which is good, because otherwise I’d have a sleeveless shirt.
why yes, that is a properly installed gusset. kind of you to notice.
I’m pleased with the gusset. Now I need to figure out the taper and fell all the seams.
I am now a convert to basting, by the way. It was very nice not to have to continually adjust the edges of the fabric as I sewed.
update 1: The gusset is installed and the sleeve is sewn shut, complete with taper. Now to cut away the excess fabric and fell the seams.
update 2: I HAVE A SLEEVE. I SAY AGAIN, I HAVE A SLEEVE.
I’m a little concerned that it might be too tight, but I can cope with that.
it’s okay. i still hate the gigantic seam allowances.
this is the inside.
it’s tidy. it’ll do.
this is the outside.
What a gigantic pain in the ass. I’ve done better, but at least it’s done. Now I just need to make another sleeve and set them into the sides of the shirt, hem the flaps on front and back, and I’m done.
Back to the instructions. I know how I think it should be done, but I need to see if I’m right.
I need a snack, and then off to bed. Night, y’all.
