day fourteen: fiddly
I finished the neckline tonight. Boy, that was a lot of very fine stitching. It’s a lot to explain and it’s very late, but suffice to say, 1.5 cm is too narrow to make the neckband out of. I’ll be damned if I’m changing it now.
Have some pictures.
I turned the raw edges of the neckhole inward and sewed the neckband on, securing both the outer layer and the lining as i went
then i turned over the selvedge and felled that down with an overcast stitch
i left a loop at the front corner of each side of the neckline
I then bound the top raw edge of the flaps by folding that edge very shallowly and then stitching the folded edge of the band to it. Then I folded over the selvedge edge and sewed that down with an overcast stitch. Lastly, I sewed the ties closed.
have a neckline. i’m thrilled with it.
I’m also exhausted. Night y’all.
next morning edit: Now I’m thinking that I might extend the slits. I have the room, and it would let the neckline open up more. I’ll ponder it. It wouldn’t be that hard or even take that long.
